Ukraine received sufficient funding from international partners to ensure all government payments in the first quarter of 2026.
This was announced by the head of the Verkhovna Rada’s budget committee, MP Roksolana Pidlas, after a meeting with the managing director of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva.
During the meeting, the preliminary conditions for launching a new lending program from the IMF were discussed.
“The government and the parliament were preparing for funding delays, so for the 1st quarter of 2026, we have enough international funds to cover the budget deficit and ensure all payments guaranteed by the state,” Pidlasa said.
She added that the board of directors of the IMF should approve the new program as soon as possible so that Ukraine gets access to budget financing from the European Union and the IMF.
Nardepka also emphasized that the budget committee fulfilled one of the four preconditions for launching the program – the adoption of the 2026 state budget. Currently, the most debatable issues remain regarding the cancellation of benefits for parcel taxation and VAT taxation for FOPs. Podlasa noted that the deputies argued for the need to relax these requirements due to problems with electricity supply, heating and constant shelling, which complicates business operations.
It will be recalled that President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that Ukraine will return the received loan of 90 billion euros only if Russia pays reparations. He emphasized that the country expects to use all 210 billion Russian assets for restoration and compensation. He made such a statement during a joint press conference with the Prime Minister of Portugal, Luiz Montenegro.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi expressed thanks to the leaders of the European Union for the decision to provide Ukraine with financial support in the amount of EUR 90 billion in 2026-2027.
