Ukraine gave Poland’s consent to exhumation of Polish victims of the Volyn tragedy in Ternopil Oblast in April.

This is reported by the Polish publication Rmf24.

As noted, the exhumation work on the Polish side will be carried out by experts who, two years ago, as a result of search operations, discovered the remains of those killed in Puzhnyky in the Ternopil region.

The deputy head of the “Freedom and Democracy” foundation, Macei Dantsevich, said that as a result of search operations carried out in 2022, a mass grave with numerous human remains was discovered near the former cemetery.

As the publication writes, the tragic events in Puzhnyky, which resulted in the deaths of about 80 local residents, happened in February 1945.

It should be noted that Ukraine and Poland have determined the places where the bodies of the victims of the Volyn tragedy will be searched for exhumation.
