Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has confirmed that Ukraine has never directed drones towards Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, or Finland. He stated that Kyiv is in communication with these countries regarding recent drone incidents.
Sybiha emphasized, “We have never aimed drones at these countries. We are working closely with our partners to ensure their safety against such incidents in the future.” He expressed regret over the recent events, which he described as a result of deliberate actions by Russia.
According to Sybiha, intelligence indicates that Russia is intentionally diverting drones towards the Baltic states to exploit these situations for propaganda purposes. He thanked the Baltic nations and Finland for their clear stance that these incidents stem from Russian aggression, urging a collective response to counter such actions.
On March 29, Finland’s Defense Ministry reported the crash of two unidentified drones near the city of Kouvola. The military later identified one of the drones as a Ukrainian AN-196, which was tracked but not shot down to avoid collateral damage.
Additionally, the Security Service of Ukraine reported a renewed strike on the oil terminal infrastructure at the Russian port of Ust-Luga in the Gulf of Finland during the night of March 29.
It has also been noted that Ukrainian drones have recently crashed in Lithuania and Latvia, prompting calls from the Baltic nations for NATO to enhance air defense measures, particularly against unmanned aerial vehicles.
Ukraine's Foreign Minister has denied any drone activity directed at Baltic nations, attributing recent incidents to Russian actions. Intelligence suggests Russia is manipulating drone incidents for propaganda, leading to calls for enhanced NATO air defenses.
