Ukraine and Great Britain are strengthening strategic cooperation, in particular in the field of joint production of Octopus interceptor drones.
This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiga during the forum on the occasion of the anniversary of the signing of the Agreement on the Centennial Partnership between Ukraine and Britain, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reports.
According to Sybiga, security, economy and politics remain the three key dimensions of the Ukrainian-British partnership. He emphasized that Great Britain has made long-term commitments regarding military support to Ukraine, providing more than 170 billion hryvnias annually for defense in the coming, most critical years.
The minister also reported that since February, Ukraine and Great Britain have begun monthly production of a thousand Octopus interceptor drones.
Sibiga called the cooperation between the two countries “a true alliance for the sake of indivisible European security and a common future.” Separately, he noted the introduction of sanctions by Britain against more than 540 tankers that bypassed the “price ceiling” for Russian oil and provided fuel to the Russian military machine.
The Octopus interceptor drone is designed to combat Shahed-type strike drones and other aerial targets. The project was implemented by Ukrainian military engineers with the support of British specialists. The development lasted about two years with the participation of the engineering divisions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and international partners.
In October 2025, Octopus was presented by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, to the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Keir Starmer, during a meeting in London.
Ukraine and Great Britain have signed an agreement that abolishes customs duties on certain types of Ukrainian agricultural products, simplifying trade between the countries.
Britain will open business center in Kyiv to support arms exports to Ukraine.
