“This position is based on the fact that the license agreement was signed, according to the artist, under the influence of misleading, on unfavorable and disproportionate terms for the author, which violate his copyright. In addition, the works of Ivan Marchuk have national value, as the results of his artistic activity are an integral part of the cultural heritage of Ukraine. The appropriation of his paintings and other works is a serious encroachment on the national cultural heritage and causes significant damage to the authority of Ukraine at the state level,” the institute emphasized.
They also expressed the hope that the issue will be resolved within the framework of Ukrainian legislation in compliance with the principles of legality, justice and the rule of law.
