The SBU and the National Police caught the men who were tasked by the Russian special services to destroy military trucks.
According to the SBU, the perpetrators were two local unemployed men aged 18 and 37. They were looking for “easy money” in Telegram channels, where they later came to the attention of the Russian special services.
As the investigation established, both involved acted separately. One of the perpetrators was arrested “in hot pursuit” when he set fire to the minivan of a veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who was using the car to transport volunteer aid. According to the available data, after setting fire to the volunteer’s car, the attacker was supposed to carry out a series of sabotages at Ukrzaliznytsia facilities. But the law enforcement officers thwarted the enemy’s plans.
Another figure was instructed to set fire to military trucks of the type “Ural” and “KrAZ”. The perpetrator prepared to commit the crime, but the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police acted in advance and detained the perpetrator when he was about to set fire to the trucks of the Armed Forces.
According to the revealed facts, both detainees were notified of suspicion in accordance with the committed crimes under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
▪️ h. 1 Art. 114-1 (obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations);
▪️ h. 3 Art. 15, ch. 1 Art. 114-1 (unfinished attempt to obstruct the legal activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine).
The perpetrators are in custody. They face up to 8 years in prison.
