Russia has to take seriously proposals for announcing the immediate and unconditional ceasefire, any lightness in attitude to such an initiative will entail the strengthening of international sanctions.

This was stated by the Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a press conference following the results of the “Coalition of those” summit in Kiev.

“If this powerful and exceptional proposal of the unconditional armistice and the immediate start of peace talks will be rejected, if on the other hand there is only a fake game, we are ready to strengthen sanctions and unite the whole world around Ukraine, for its independence. We believe that no one can perceive our position lightly. But if someone suggests such lightness, he will regret it. So today we are careful optimists, but thanks to our work, this optimism is justified, ”Tusk said.

He noted that today’s meeting, which took place in the days when the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II is of great importance. From the first hours from the beginning of full -scale aggression of Russia against Ukraine, Poland fully supports Ukraine, its people and President of Zelensky. The Polish and Ukrainian peoples always remember the horrific sacrifices they suffered during the Second World War, as well as that the victory over Nazism did not bring the will of the Ukrainians or the Poles who had to expect true independence for many years.

“We were ready to fight for freedom and independence. Today, Ukraine pays again the highest and bloody price for the same values - for freedom and independence. But Ukraine is not alone today. What happened during these two days has exceptional symbolism. Yesterday in Moscow there was a parade of shame, organized by an aggressor, where again rude words were sounded, filled with aggression and enmity. It was later Kyiv, a meeting of our four with President Zelensky, whose result is a call to peace, to an immediate, on Monday, a complete ceasefire. And this meeting takes place in Kiev, which is bombard, destroys and attacks the aggressor, ”said the Prime Minister of the RP.

He noted that there was a need to start peace talks about sustainable and just peace in Ukraine as soon as possible in Ukraine. The idea of unconditional ceasefire and immediate peace talks was initiated jointly by the Presidents of the United States and Ukraine present in Kiev today by the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Poland, as well as the whole coalition of states that support Ukraine and seek to continue to support its struggle for territorial integrity.

“For the first time in a while we had the feeling that the whole free world is united. It is not a slogan, but the decision we made. The whole world, from New Zealand to Canada and Iceland, Ukraine, the United States, all of the United Europe, and Norway – we all spoke in one voice. And it was not the voice of naivety. We are well aware that we are faced with a real test that also faces Russia with Putin. We will wait for Russia’s reaction. The proposal that we jointly formed with the US, Europe, Canada and Ukraine, about ceasefire, and a truce is very serious. If Russia rejects it, there will be no doubt who seeks peace and who wants war, ”the Polish Prime Minister emphasized.

On May 10, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Prime Minister-Metricters of the United Kingdom and Poland, came to Kiev on May 10, French Macron, Friedrich Merz, Kir Starmer and Donald Tusk.

Recall that on May 10, French President Emmanuel Macron, the new German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Kir Starmer and Poland Prime Minister Donald Tusk arrived in Kiev on May 10. The day before, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Ukraine would accept the leaders of countries who have previously expressed their willingness to join a military mission to ensure a peace plan (known as a “Coalition of those”).

After meeting the coalition, all five leaders – Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Emmanuel Macron, Friedrich Merz, Donald Tusk and Cyrus Starmer – spent a telephone conversation with Donald Trump on peaceful efforts. Ukraine and all allies are ready for a full ceasefire for at least 30 days, starting on Monday.
