US President-elect Donald Trump is putting pressure on European countries, demanding more aid to Ukraine and at the same time making it clear that aid from America will be cut.

The Washington Post writes about it.

The authors of the publication note that this holiday season has become the third in a row for Ukraine after the full-scale invasion of Russia.

“And President-elect Donald Trump’s promise to begin negotiations to end the war has many questioning whether there will be a fourth,” WP writes.

At the same time, Trump has not disclosed details about how he intends to get Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table, and the Ukrainian and Russian delegations have not met since the first months of the war in 2022.

For their part, Ukrainian servicemen interviewed by journalists expressed doubt that Putin would agree to peace as long as Russian troops are making progress at the front and maintaining an offensive initiative.

Some fighters also spoke of their fears that the US would end its critical arms support if Kyiv did not agree to territorial concessions in the interim.

Trump’s “peace plan” for Ukraine

On November 6, The Wall Street Journal reported that Donald Trump’s advisers put forward different versions of the plan to effectively freeze the front line in Ukraine. One of them provides for Ukraine’s refusal to join NATO for 20 years.

According to the publication, this plan involves freezing the front line and creating an 800-mile demilitarized zone (almost 1300 km). In addition, it provides for Russia to leave approximately 20% of the territory of Ukraine, which the aggressor country seized.

On November 7, it was reported that the Office of the President of Ukraine doubted the authenticity of this plan.

In December, in a comment to The New York Post, Trump said that formulates the concept” of peace for Ukraine. He also emphasized that Putin lost because he lost 700,000 people at the front.

On December 8, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi responded to Trump’s call for an “immediate ceasefire”, stressing the need to guarantee the reliability of peace.

On December 13, the NBC News channel, citing sources, wrote about the negotiations between the teams of Trump, Joe Biden and Zelensky about ending the war. The President-elect of the United States, according to sources, is serious about achieving a ceasefire on the first day of his presidency.

On December 15, Congressman Mike Waltz of Florida, whom Trump is set to appoint as his national security adviser, said that the president-elect’s team is thinking about how to stop Russia’s war against Ukraine, not just a temporary ceasefire.

On December 22, El Pais, citing its own sources, reported that Trump had sent a message to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, urging him to start thinking about a ceasefire and giving up all territories temporarily occupied by Russia.
