Trump has threatened Russia with new sanctions if Putin does not negotiate

The US president also noted that he plans to hold talks with the Russian president in the near future and is ready to meet with him at any time convenient for him.

“President Zelensky wants peace, but it takes two,” Trump emphasized, referring to the need for Putin’s participation in the negotiations.

In addition, he confirmed that he discussed the war in Ukraine during a recent phone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

After his inauguration on January 20, Trump already stated that Volodymyr Zelenskyy wants to make a deal. At the same time, he expressed hope that Putin will be ready for this, because the ongoing war is only destroying Russia.

“I think Russia is facing big problems. Look at the inflation in the country… I hope that Putin wants to make a deal,” the US president said.

Trump also emphasized that he seeks to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible and again stated that this conflict “should never have started.”
