Military expert, former SBU employee Ivan Stupak on the air of Radio NV – about the intentions of the enemy in the Pokrov direction and the related threats to the Dnipropetrovsk region.
He reminded that the enemy has been trying to surround Pokrovsk since September.
“There will be no peace for another six months.” What happened to Pokrovsk can happen to Pavlograd, Dnipro, Kharkiv and Kyiv — NV interview with Firsov
“They are trying to bypass it from the west, took the city of Selidove, and are approaching the western outskirts. What is the goal? To cut off the connection between Pokrovsk and the city of Pavlograd in the Dnipropetrovsk region. This is one time. And if you look at the non-tactical plans, the goal will be quite big – it is the capture of Kostyantynivka and the big If we open the DeepState map, we will see that the first left flank, so to speak, covers Pokrovsk, try to bypass it from the west, then go north clockwise, [потім] – offensive on Kostyantynivka and plus from [боку] Toretska,” said Stupak, emphasizing that the enemy wants to use such a large vise to cover a large area of Donetsk region.
He also added that the occupiers have eight kilometers to the administrative borders of the Dnipropetrovsk region. And even if the Russians seize five square kilometers of Dnipropetrovsk region, it will be a big loss for Ukraine, because the war will spill over into another region, Stupak emphasized:
“And this cancerous tumor can gradually get stuck in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and, unfortunately, there are such efforts, they can even develop their offensive in the direction of the city of Pavlograd. Let me remind you, this is a rather large city of defense importance, an industrial city, during the Soviet Union, part of the missile program of the entire Soviet Union, then of Ukraine, was concentrated there. This is reality and it can be seen with the naked eye.”
On December 10, Serhii Filimonov, commander of the 108th separate battalion of Vovka Da Vinci, reported that the situation in the Pokrov direction remains critical. Every month, the Russians replenish their units with hundreds of new soldiers. According to Filimonov, if measures are not taken now, the city may be lost in the near future.
On December 11, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that in the Pokrov region, the Russian invaders are trying to break through the Ukrainian defenses, using all available forces.
On December 12, Mykola Koval, the head of the press service of the 14th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, Chervona Kalina, said that fierce fighting is ongoing in the Pokrovsk region. Russian troops approached the city at a distance of 6-10 kilometers.
The editor-in-chief of Censor.NET Yuriy Butusov believes that Ukraine can lose Pokrovsk even without fighting for this city.
