“Time’s up.” With the election of Trump, we enter the zone of serious risks: how to work with the new US president – an interview with Shamshur

— Democracy won, this is the most important thing we have to record, it is the choice of the American people. But of course, Ukraine is very dependent on the United States. I just remembered that President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said in one of the interviews that if there is no US help, Ukraine will lose the war.

— I think that we also already understand that it is necessary to proceed from the fact that this is the choice of the American people. By the way, contrary to expectations, at least so far, the election has been completely normal, from what I see both the candidates and their entourage have said. And we must prepare to work with the president elected by the Americans.

It is clear that one should pay attention to his position, or even predisposition. But, nevertheless, we need to think about how to work with Donald Trump.

— Let’s remember his positions. When he was a presidential candidate, he repeatedly said that he would end the war in 24 hours. Countdown from when should we count? From now on?

— He said that even before his inauguration, by January 20, he would make several phone calls and put Zelenskyi and [російського диктатора Володимира] Putin to the negotiating table and will end the war. And, by the way, in his speech (he, however, did not mention Ukraine) said that he would end all wars. Let’s see how he will do it.

It seems to me that, as of today, it should still be assumed that with the election of Trump, we are entering the zone of serious risks, which are primarily related to his peace plan for Ukraine, which was announced by him, one might say, the vice president [Джей Ді] Vance. We are aware of the elements of this plan and in this form it is completely unacceptable to us. We need to get out of this and immediately see what Trump will do.

— I’ll probably remind our audience what these plans are that were voiced earlier by JD Vance, the man who will become vice president under the presidency of Donald Trump. JD Vance said, they say, we will freeze the war, Ukraine should become a neutral state, and the territories occupied by Russia, if I remember correctly, should be a gray area. True, I did not understand from Vance’s words who should control this area, but plus or minus the outlines of the plan are as follows.

– Absolutely true. Based on even everyday formal logic, it is clear that Russia is gaining control over the occupied territories. And it is not for nothing that some American analysts said that this is Putin’s plan, he clearly plays into the hands of the Russians, although Putin said that even this is not enough for him, that it is more likely just some kind of game.

Plus, it should also be taken into account that there is a serious danger, and I think it is quite real, that the pressure to implement this plan will be exerted on Ukraine. In particular, there may be some demands for concessions from our side that are absolutely unacceptable based on our national interests.
