The Entry/Exit System (EES) officially joined three more Polish checkpoints bordering Ukrainian ones within the Lviv region. It is about “Krostsenko – Smilnytsia”, “Malhovice – Nyzhankovychi” and “Budomiezh – Hrushiv”.

This is reported by the Western Regional Office of the State Border Service of Ukraine.

The EES system is already fully operational at the Polish checkpoints “Medyka – Szegyny”, “Korchova – Krakowiec” and on the railway route “Przemyśl – Mostyska”. At the remaining checkpoints bordering Lviv Oblast, EES is currently operating in test mode.

Due to the introduction of the new system, the procedure for passing border control may take longer, and this also affects the speed of travelers’ clearance and may lead to an increase in waiting time.

When entering the EU for the first time after the launch of the EES, citizens of third countries, including Ukraine, undergo extended registration. It includes taking a photo of your face and taking four fingerprints. The procedure is used for persons aged 12 and over.

The State Border Service of Ukraine has warned of a possible slowdown in traffic at three checkpoints on the border with Poland. The reason is the start of the new digital Entry and Exit System (EES).

As a reminder, Poland is gradually introducing the EES system: from October 20, it became operational at the Krakiwiec checkpoint, and from October 12 at the Medyka-Szehyny road border crossing and the Przemyśl-Mostyska railway crossing.

Phased implementation of EES in the European Union started on October 12 — this system automates the recording of biometric data during entry and exit and should increase the speed and accuracy of control.
