On November 20, on Wednesday, employees of the Irish embassy in Ukraine were ordered to work from home after receiving information about possible shelling from Russia.
According to the Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Michal Martin, this decision was made “as a precaution”, and the employees are temporarily at home, and not in the embassy building in Kyiv.
Martin added that consultations are currently underway between various embassies across Ukraine, but there are no plans to recall embassy staff.
“This is a very cautious step, but it is obvious that the situation is escalating, and we believe that Russia should stop this war,” the minister noted.
The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Ukraine urged its citizens to leave the territories close to the places of active hostilities due to the danger, or to leave the country through Poland or Moldova altogether.
The US Embassy in Kyiv announced that they will not be working on Wednesday due to the “serious risk” of mass shelling of Ukraine. Subsequently, at least three embassies of Italy, Spain and Greece announced similar decisions.
