A serious traffic accident occurred on the Lviv-Krakowets highway near the border with Poland, which led to a complete stop of traffic.
The patrol police of the Lviv region reports that the accident with victims was recorded on the 67th kilometer of the M-10 highway, right near the settlement of Krakovets.
Medics, rescuers and law enforcement officers are currently working at the scene, providing assistance to the victims and investigating the circumstances of the collision.
Unlike usual traffic jams in front of checkpoints, the current situation requires a complete bypass of the area where the accident occurred. The patrols organized temporary traffic through the territory of the nearby gas station, but the capacity of this route is limited. Drivers who plan to cross the border in this direction are urged to be extremely careful and, if possible, choose other checkpoints such as “Grushiv” or “Sheghini” to avoid long waits.
Deterioration of weather conditions, in particular ice and severe frost until -15°C significantly complicate the situation on the roads of Lviv Oblast this evening. The police emphasize the need to maintain a safe distance and speed, because the braking distance on an icy surface increases several times. Special services are trying to clear the roadway as quickly as possible, but the time for the full restoration of traffic on the M-10 highway remains unknown at the moment.
