Nataliya Smashna, the wife of a patient who died when a Russian drone hit the hospital of the Medicom clinic in Kyiv, said that she will demand compensation from the institution and accuses the medical institution of negligence that led to her husband’s death.
“My husband was in the clinic where he was fighting pneumonia. He entrusted his life to the doctors who were supposed to save him. That night it was necessary to at least wake him up and take him to the shelter, but this was not done. They committed negligence that ended his life,” Smashna said at a press conference.
According to the woman, the staff of the clinic did not warn the patients about the danger and did not take them to shelter, which could have saved her husband’s life.
Smashnaya’s lawyers reported that the woman applied to the clinic for compensation for burial expenses, but was refused.
“We will prove in court that the Medicom clinic did not fulfill its obligations to patients. There are witnesses, documents, and everything is ready to be handed over to the competent authorities,” said Yuriy Radzievskyi, a partner of Barristers JSC.
As reported, on the night of January 5, 2026, a drone caused significant damage to the inpatient clinic at 9 Obolonskaya embankment. One patient died, 26 others were in the room and were evacuated to other medical facilities.
Also, enemy drones are attacking the Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
Russians attacked areas of Dnipropetrovsk region: a woman died, three were injured.
