On Tuesday, September 24, the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine vacated the Vovchan aggregate plant in the Kharkiv region, clearing the last of the plant’s thirty buildings.

The HUR later officially confirmed this information. Intelligence said that the occupiers in all the buildings of the plant were destroyed. At 2:40 p.m., the commander of the GUR special unit, Timur, reported to the head of the GUR Kyryl Budanov about the completion of the operation. Special groups of the Stugna, Paragon, RDK, Junger, BDK and Terror participated in the operation.
“Fighters of the GUR MOU carried out a systematic sweep of the plant’s buildings, constantly engaging in contact battles with the enemy in densely built-up conditions. In some cases, Ukrainian special forces engaged in hand-to-hand combat with the enemy,” the GUR said in a statement.
Intelligence noted that the occupiers had turned the plant into a propaganda plant “the fortress”, using the most motivated and professional units for its defense, in particular the 45th special purpose brigade of the VAT. The enemy also continuously struck Ukrainian scouts with artillery, attacked with kamikaze drones, KABs and Solntsepek TVS.
“Despite the fierce resistance of the enemy, the fighters of the GUR MOU managed to destroy the enemy, take prisoners and replenish the exchange fund,” the intelligence press service emphasized.
Earlier, the spokesman of the Kharkiv operational-tactical group, Vitaly Sarantsev, reported that as of September 17, Russian military personnel continue to be present on the territory of the Vovchan Aggregate Plant.
What is known about the situation in Vovchansk
On August 30, the head of the Vovchansk MBA, Tamaz Gambarashvili, reported that Vovchansk was 90% destroyed, and only 20 residents remained. According to him, before the Russian offensive in May 2024, about 3,000 residents lived in the deoccupied Vovchansk.
On August 29, Kharkiv OTG reported that the Russians tried to break through armored vehicles into the center of Vovchansk, but the assault was repulsed.
On August 25, the spokesman of the Kharkiv operational-tactical group, Vitaly Sarantsev, stated that Russian military personnel remain at the aggregate plant in Vovchansk, Kharkiv region, and have been blocked there for several months. A representative of Kharkiv Technical University reported that at first there were about 40 Russian military personnel at the plant. According to him, the occupiers are suffering losses there, there are dead and wounded.
