The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will hold an additional plenary session on Saturday, December 27, which is atypical for the parliament’s usual work schedule. At the meeting, the deputies plan to consider the issue of renaming the changeable coin “kopey” to “step”.

This was announced during the broadcast of the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada.

Usually, plenary sessions of the parliament take place on weekdays — from Tuesday to Thursday, and work on weekends is convened only in exceptional cases.

The issue of holding an additional meeting on December 27 was discussed in the context of consideration of the draft law on renaming the coin. The corresponding proposal was supported by 241 people’s deputies.

Thus, the draft law on renaming “penny” to “step” is planned to be submitted for the second reading already next Saturday, outside the standard work schedule of the Verkhovna Rada.

We will remind you that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the first reading supported draft law No. 14093, which provides for the renaming of the monetary unit “kopeck” to “step”.
