The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science and Innovation Sergey Babak denied information about the possible cancellation of the correspondence form of study in higher educational establishments of Ukraine.
In an interview with UNN, he clearly stated that parliamentarians do not plan to eliminate this format of education. Instead, MPs recognize the importance of absentee training and understand its value to many Ukrainians.
According to Babak, the correspondence form of education is in stable demand among Ukrainian youth and adults. This format is especially important for those who combine training with professional activity.
Many students choose a correspondence form precisely because of the opportunity to get education without interruption from work. This approach allows you to gain practical experience and theoretical knowledge.
It is important to understand that the correspondence, distance and dual forms of learning have significant differences. Sergey Babak stressed that it is wrong to draw parallels between these formats, since each of them has its own unique features and advantages.
Correspondence training involves periodic eye sessions and independent material processing between them. Distance learning is completely online, and dualing combines university training with work at the enterprise.
In the fall of 2023, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine considered the possibility of replacing the correspondence form of training remote. Representatives of the department even called the correspondence format “Rudiment of the past”, considering it obsolete in modern realities.
The MES proposal met serious resistance from the public and parliamentarians. The corresponding amendments did not pass the Verkhovna Rada Educational Committee, which indicates support for the preservation of the absentee format by legislators. Deputies saw the real value of this form of education for modern society.
As a result of the active dialogue between the authorities and the public, the Minister of Education Oksen Lisovy officially stated that the Ministry of Education and Science took into account the opinion of society and people’s deputies. The department decided not to cancel the part -time form, but to focus on its improvement.
Thus, instead of radical changes, the ministry plans to modernize the correspondence format, maintaining its basic principles and adapting to modern education requirements.
We will remind, the deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science and Innovation Sergey Koleboshin announced the preparation of the draft law on the introduction of EIT for students of 9th grades. According to him, it would be a good tool for both delimitation and the issue of excessive children who enter higher education.
We also reported that there have been cases where some of the students who went abroad under academic mobility programs have not returned in Ukraine.
