Ukraine lacks at least 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas for the next heating season, and this volume will have to be purchased abroad. At the same time, Naftogaz’s financial condition is much worse than its executives officially reported, and the company does not have enough resources to cover the shortage.
This was reported by the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and HCP Alexei Kucherenko, RBC-Ukraine writes.
“We have passed this heating season, I am not talking about how much money is spent unnecessary and who will continue to cover these deficits. But you know that the latest rocket and drone attacks were concentrated on gas infrastructure facilities, ”Kucherenko said.
According to him, gas production losses have already become critical, and Ukraine will have to cover them with imports, although funding is not enough.
“If you translate into simple numbers, we will be aware of at least 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas this season. That is, 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas are not enough in Ukraine to be pumped to prepare for the next heating season. It will need to be purchased on imports, as it is impossible to repair quickly, ”the deputy explained.
He also noted that the real financial condition of Naftogaz is significantly different from the official statements of the company’s management. According to the People’s Deputy, the critical lack of gas will directly affect the country’s energy.
Earlier, we wrote that Alexey Kucherenko, the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and HCP, said that Naftogaz gas policy is opaque and raises more and more questions.
It should also be reminded that the Provisional Investigation Commission of the Verkhovna Rada on Pricing in Energy will appeal to the State Audit Service of Ukraine to check the company “Naftogaz”. The cause was insufficient gas reserves in storage.
