The President of Ukraine believes that Ukraine’s European allies do not have enough soldiers to hold back the Russian army.
“This cannot happen without the United States. Even if some European friends think that it is possible, it is not so. No one will take risks without the United States,” the head of state said.
Zelensky warned that without long-term commitments from Ukraine’s Western allies, Putin would use the ceasefire as an opportunity to rearm and launch a new offensive.
“The end of the war should be Trump’s victory, not Putin’s. Putin is nobody to him,” the president said.
The head of state added that he wants to receive security guarantees from Trump before entering into direct negotiations with Putin.
“The only question is what are the security guarantees, and frankly, I want to have an understanding before the negotiations. If he can guarantee this strong and irreversible security for Ukraine, we will move on this diplomatic path,” he said.
