According to the results of the negotiations in Florida, which ended on the night of December 29, 2025, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the approval of a large-scale package of security guarantees from the United States.

This was reported in a telegram from the head of state.

According to the agreements reached, the US undertakes to support the security of Ukraine for the next 15 years with the possibility of further extension of the document. Zelensky emphasized that these guarantees are “strong” and have already been agreed upon at the level of the teams of both countries. At the same time, the Ukrainian leader appealed to Donald Trump with the initiative to increase this term to 30, 40 or even 50 years, arguing for the duration of Russian aggression, which has been going on for more than a decade. According to Zelensky, Trump promised to “think” about this proposal, which, if adopted, could become a strategic foundation for security in Europe for half a century to come.

In addition to time frames, the Mar-a-Lago talks were about financial and military support: Ukraine expects to receive the first $100 billion over the next two years. These funds are planned to be used to rebuild the country in the event of lasting peace or to strengthen defenses if hostilities continue. Zelensky emphasized that the security guarantees must be ratified by the US Congress and the Ukrainian Parliament in order to ensure their stability regardless of the change of political administrations. A “partner presence” mechanism to monitor the future peace agreement was also discussed, although the details of this point remain confidential for now due to the sensitivity of the issue for all parties to the process.

President Trump, commenting on the results of the meeting, expressed optimism, noting that the parties are “very close” to a final solution, and the 20-point peace plan has already been agreed upon by 90-95%. Despite significant progress on security issues, the most acute remain territorial differences and the status of the occupied regions, for which an additional round of consultations will continue. Zelensky also confirmed that any final deal must gain legitimacy through a national referendum, which would require at least a two-month ceasefire. Today’s statements by the leaders indicate that the diplomatic marathon is reaching the finish line, where the American guarantees should become a safeguard against a repeated attack by the Russian Federation in the future.

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von Der Leyen, reported on the successful negotiations that took place between the Presidents of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, and the President of the United States, Donald Trump, on December 28 in Florida.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed the details of the topics being discussed as part of the “peace plan” negotiations and which he plans to discuss at the expected meeting with US President Donald Trump.
