Representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate declared their ignorance regarding the operation of an illegal educational institution on the territory of the capital’s monastery.
This was reported by the head of the Synodal Information and Educational Department of the UOC MP, Metropolitan Kliment, in a comment for “Society. Kyiv”.
Metropolitan Kliment noted that the mentioned school does not have official registration and was not created by the decision of the Synod, and the footage from the investigation allegedly does not provide a clear understanding of specific persons or premises. According to churchmen, only the spiritual academy officially operates at the monastery, and the children recorded on the video could have been ordinary visitors to the temple.
Despite the denials of the UOC MP, a journalistic investigation revealed that more than 60 children study at the institution using a program based on Soviet textbooks, Russian films and songs. The leadership of the underground school confirmed the presence of a staff of 16 teachers who provide education for students from 1st to 9th grade within the walls of the Holosiivsk desert. Such activity in the conditions of full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation caused a significant resonance, since raising children in the Russian ideological field on the territory of Kyiv poses a direct threat to national security.
The Security Service of Ukraine has already started a detailed verification of the facts of illegal activities on the territory of the monastery after the evidence was made public by journalists. Investigators are studying educational materials and identifying the teachers who implemented the educational standards of the aggressor country. Unlike the official educational institutions of Ukraine, which work according to state standards, such underground structures are often used by the Russian Federation for soft influence and formation of a generation loyal to the occupiers inside the country.
Deputy Prime Minister-Minister for Humanitarian Policy Tetyana Berezhna stated that it is necessary to wait for the official results of the investigation by the Security Service of Ukraine regarding the underground educational institution exposed by journalists on the territory of the UOC MP monastery in Holosiivskyi district.
