Ukraine and the USA signed a memorandum on cooperation in the energy sector for the amount of 825 million dollars. These funds are intended to restore critical infrastructure and reform the energy sector.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
As reported, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of Ukraine and the US on cooperation in ensuring the stability of Ukraine’s energy system at the NATO headquarters.
The memorandum envisages the possibility of American assistance in the total amount of up to 825 million dollars.
The document creates a legal framework for improving the stability of the energy system of Ukraine, in particular:
- restoration of critical infrastructure;
- introduction of distributed generation;
- reforming the energy sector;
- promoting the post-war transition to a low-carbon, competitive and European-integrated economy.
Earlier, the Danish government allocated 130 million Danish kroner (over 16 million euros) to support Ukraine’s energy system, as reported by the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities.
Germany transferred 65 million euros to the European Energy Community for the repair of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
