On December 23, the State Audit Service of Ukraine begins a comprehensive audit of the enterprises of the defense-industrial complex on the instructions of the president and the government.
This was stated by the head of the State Audit Service, Alla Basalayeva, “Glavkom” reports.
The inspection will cover 88 facilities, including 86 enterprises of the defense industry and two state-owned enterprises of the Ministry of Defense — “Defense Procurement Agency” and “State Rear Operator”.
About 500 employees of the State Audit Service are involved in the control measures, who will conduct audits and audits at enterprises involved in the production and procurement of weapons.
Basalayeva emphasized that the effectiveness of the management of state defense enterprises directly affects Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against the enemy. Therefore, this audit is a priority for the department, just like the audit of state-owned energy companies, which began in the fall.
The head of the State Audit Service recalled the results of the audit of the Ministry of Defense in 2023, which revealed a significant number of violations and helped prevent losses in the funding of the Defense Forces.
The conclusions of that inspection became the basis for criminal proceedings, the dismissal of high-ranking officials and the collection of millions of sums for unfulfilled contracts. Courts established the facts of the embezzlement of public funds, including spending on private villas in Croatia.
It will be recalled that the State Audit Service detected violations amounting to 22.4 billion hryvnias for the year.
Also, the head of the State Audit Service, Alla Basalayeva, claims that the authorities of Kyiv overpaid UAH 160 million for the delivery of donated subway cars from Poland – six times more than the real price.
