The SBI exposed a scheme of embezzlement of budget funds in the Lviv region. The son of an incumbent People’s Deputy is suspected of being involved in embezzlement.

According to RBC-Ukraine sources, the person involved in the case is the son of People’s Deputy Andrii Lopushanskyi. He was elected as a candidate for the 125th district (Lviv region). There is a deputy chairman of the VRU Committee on Budget Issues.
According to the investigation, from September to December 2019, the son of the people’s deputy, together with officials of the Verkhnyosynvydna settlement council of Skoliv district and officials of commercial structures under his control, developed a scheme to seize the community’s budget funds.
The DBR notes that the device was implemented during the purchase and delivery of equipment with component materials within the framework of the object “Reconstruction of street lighting using innovative energy-efficient measures of renewable energy sources”.
As a result of the criminal scheme, the losses of the state amount to almost one million hryvnias.
Law enforcement officers searched the place of residence of the suspect and his father. The son of a people’s deputy was charged with misappropriation, embezzlement or possession of property by abuse of official position (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He faces up to 12 years in prison.
