Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko said that the situation with electricity supply in Ukraine could improve as early as the evening of January 15, if Russia does not inflict new blows on the energy infrastructure.
She announced this during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada.
“If there are no massive attacks, I want to emphasize this, then we will have an improvement in schedules from Thursday evening. I am afraid to say such things in general, to say in detail which substation will be restored. But I say that it will be Thursday,” Svyridenko emphasized.
According to her, the government reviewed the list of critical infrastructure facilities with accompanying load, which allowed to optimize the distribution of electricity.
“You read that we are reviewing critical infrastructure facilities with accompanying load. During the 4 years of the war, there are objects of critical infrastructure that do not turn off and they are not in the schedules – these are medical facilities, military equipment, but there is also an accompanying load. We have reviewed all these graphs.
There has to be justice, we looked at what it gives us the opportunity to release up to 1 GW. This suggests that people, taking into account all the blackouts and massive attacks, have the opportunity to be one or two queues longer, if we had not made this decision,” the head of government explained.
The Cabinet of Ministers also works with retail chains that provide work on generators. In Kyiv, according to the Prime Minister, generators are deployed near residential buildings in areas with the most difficult situation.
“We are making fuel reserves. Sufficient fuel is available, operators import an increased amount of fuel to build the correct amount of resources.
We are working with international partners, in a few days there will be a meeting of the “Energy Ramstein”.
We will promptly inform you about the change in the situation. I am asking you to remain calm, I believe that unity is what we should focus on. We all work 24/7,” concluded Svyridenko.
On Wednesday, January 14, restrictions on electricity consumption were again introduced throughout Ukraine. In a number of regions, due to another Russian attack, emergency power outages are used.
We will remind, on the morning of January 13, as a result of a massive missile and drone attack by Russia on the energy infrastructure disappeared light in Kyiv and seven regions of Ukraine. Kyiv and the region have switched to emergency shutdowns, and in some regions scheduled shutdown schedules are temporarily not in effect, the Ministry of Energy reported.
