As the Rakhiv Court’s decision said, h Olovik, who is the clergyman-bishop of “Jehovah’s Witnesses”, categorically denied his guilt. He explained that he always came to the shopping center when he was summoned but refused combat summons. He referred to religious beliefs that are unacceptable to him The status of a serviceman (stay in the military unit, oath, wearing form, executing orders under the supervision of the military).
Rakhiv District Court explained that the current legislation of Ukraine does not imply the opportunity to give up from conscription during mobilization for a special period because of religious beliefs. Also, there is no alternative (non -military) service during martial law.
The court found the man guilty of Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (evasion of conscription for military service during mobilization).
Earlier, the unemployed resident of Volyn received six months in prison for refusing a conscription during mobilization.
Three deputies of the Kyiv City Council chose a measure of restraint in the form of night arrest. They are in the case of evasion of military service.
