“You don’t walk side by side with us, because that’s how our brothers and sisters walk with us. You are behind us, like the rest of the civilians. Hello, I will explain to you that my goal was for people to understand that a uniform is more than a job, because they fight in it, get mutilated, lose their lives, and are buried in it. I did not in any way forbid you to wear armor in front-line places, I only asked you to refrain from photo sessions in uniform and combat equipment, etc.. And I will be grateful if you communicate in general that from now on the uniform will be kept in the closet as a memory,” says the message written by Tur for Martyniuk.
Martyniuk noted that she respects Tur’s opinion and decided to refrain from wearing a military uniform in public. However, she also noted that she cannot remove her bulletproof vest during reporting trips, underscoring her right to protection.
As a result of the conflict, her charity has now stopped accepting new requests to rethink the situation.
In response to criticism, Tour clarified that she did not forbid Martyniuk to wear military uniforms in frontline areas, but emphasized the need to respect the meaning and significance of military clothing for those who participate in combat operations. The situation caused a wide resonance in society and emphasized the importance of communication between volunteers and veterans.
