The Security Service of Ukraine refused to provide Hromadske journalists with the original videos on which an FSB employee allegedly threatens the wife of SBU General Viktor Dorovsky. Also, the special service did not explain the procedural status of this person. The journalists claim that they have received only the information that has already been published in the media.
The Security Service of Ukraine did not provide Hromadske with the original video recordings of alleged threats against Oksana Dorovsky, the wife of SBU General and head of the Security Service in the Odesa region Viktor Dorovsky.
We are talking about videos that appeared in a number of Ukrainian media on December 22, 2025 — the day of the publication of the hromadske investigation into the lifestyle of the general’s family. In these materials, it was claimed that an employee of the FSB of the Russian Federation threatened Oksana Dorovskaya with “compromise” and demanded 250,000 dollars. The publications also said that the FSB allegedly tried to use Ukrainian media “in the dark” to discredit the SBU general.
At the same time, the released video was edited: there was no date on it to determine the time of the conversation, and the face of the woman, who was called an FSB employee, was obscured.
During the preparation of the investigation, hromadske journalists addressed the SBU press service several times with questions about Viktor Dorovsky and members of his family. In total, the editors sent three requests, the first one on October 31. However, in its answers, the SBU never mentioned any threats or attempts at pressure from the Russian special services.
After the release of the investigation, on December 23, hromadske turned to the head of the department of interaction with the media and the public of the SBU, Artem Dekhtyarenko, with the question why the information about the alleged threats appeared only after the publication of the material. “We proceeded from the questions that were in your request. You received a comprehensive answer to both letters. The story is true, the records are authentic,” replied the SBU spokesman.
Thus, according to Dekhtyarenko, the SBU did not inform journalists about the threats earlier, as hromadske did not ask direct questions about it.
Investigators also contacted newsrooms that published videos with alleged threats. Hromadske confirmed in several media that the SBU handed over these materials to them on its own initiative — already after the investigation was released, and not in response to journalistic inquiries. Separately, hromadske asked the Security Service to provide the original videos to verify their authenticity. However, the SBU press service refused, limiting itself to information that had already appeared in the public domain. “We have provided the maximum amount of information that can be disclosed on this matter,” said Artem Dekhtyarenko.
In addition, the journalists inquired about the procedural status of the person who allegedly threatened the general’s wife, as well as when the criminal proceedings were opened and under what articles.
The SBU did not directly answer these questions. The service only noted that Viktor Dorovsky passed on information about threats to the internal security unit in April 2025. The data was included in the criminal proceedings, but when exactly it happened and under what articles it was opened – they did not inform. Previously, the SBU told other media that threats to the general’s wife allegedly began to arrive as early as March 27, 2025.
