According to the case file, one of the perpetrators was a 20-year-old resident of the Odesa region. The Russians recruited him remotely through the Telegram channel in search of “easy money.”
The attacker was tasked with collecting the geolocations of Ukrainian checkpoints, mobile fire groups, and air defense anti-aircraft missile systems.
In order to spy on a larger number of objects at the same time, the traitor involved his acquaintance, a 15-year-old resident of Voznesensk, Mykolaiv region, in subversive activities.
As the investigation established, the perpetrators bypassed the terrain of both southern regions and secretly recorded the locations of the Defense Forces on phone cameras.
After reconnaissance forays, the senior agent marked the coordinates of potential targets on Google Maps and sent them to the Russian curator via messenger.
The SBU employees documented this and detained the suspect from Odesa for attempting to pass on intelligence. At the scene, a mobile phone was seized from him, through which he communicated with a Russian special service agent.
The perpetrator is in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
We will remind that the SBI referred the case of the official of the Black Sea Biosphere Reserve to the court. He cooperated with the Russian occupiers in the Kherson region, and then returned to the territory controlled by Ukraine.
