Rescuer from the Rivne region Maria Lebedynska became the winner in several nominations at the World Firefighter Challenge Championship 2024.
This was reported in the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Rivne region.
Thus, Maria Lebedynska confirmed the status of one of the strongest female rescuers in the world. The athlete won a number of awards:
- 1st place in tandem with Jodi Raimi (New Zealand) in the women’s category under 40;
- 1st place in the national mixed relay team;
- 1st place in the international national relay team “Powerand Hot”;
- 1st place in the national women’s relay team;
- 1st place in the overall team standings among women in the women’s category under 40 years.
The State Emergency Service noted that Maria Lebedynska started practicing firefighting only a few years ago, but has already “reached the heights that many experienced athletes dream of.”
“The success story of Maria Lebedynska is inspiring. Not long ago, she was an ordinary lifeguard who performed her daily duties. But thanks to her passion for sports and indomitable spirit, she decided to try herself in a new role,” the message reads.
Previously, the Ukrainian athlete Ilya Kovtun won the gymnastics tournament held in the Swiss city of Balerna.
