On December 25, 2025, a court debate in the case of war crimes at the Vovchan Aggregate Plant took place in the Kholodnohirsky District Court of Kharkiv. The accused is a 36-year-old junior sergeant of the Russian Armed Forces Serhiy Tuzhilov with the call sign “Altai”, who became the first Russian occupier in the Kharkiv region, whose case of killing prisoners is being considered in person.
Suspilne writes about it.
Prosecutor Mykyta Daloka emphasized that, despite European values and the right to life, society will not accept a sentence other than the maximum, so the state prosecution insists on life imprisonment.
The investigation established that during the repeated attack on Kharkiv region in 2024, Tuzhilov personally shot one Ukrainian defender and contributed to the murder of two more. Relatives of the victims, including mothers, wives and children, filed civil lawsuits for a total of 51 million hryvnias as compensation for inhuman cruelty. The representative of the victims, Tamila Bespala, noted that some of those killed were completely inexperienced soldiers who had just graduated and became victims of a war crime on the territory of the plant.
Tuzhilov himself, who previously had a conviction for robbery and went to war for money and to “cleanse” his biography, admitted his guilt, but called himself a servile executor of orders. At the trial, he cynically stated that killing was the “humane” option, as the captives would have allegedly died of thirst or hunger anyway due to difficult logistics. The occupier’s defense is asking for the sentence to be reduced to 15 years in prison, taking into account the defendant’s remorse. It is noteworthy that Tuzhilov has already written an application for exchange, hoping to return home to the Krasnodar region. The court plans to announce the final verdict in this high-profile case on January 13, 2026.
Earlier in Ukraine, a captured Russian soldier who shot civilians near Kupiansk was sentenced. He received a life sentence.
Previously in Kyiv condemned A 41-year-old man who set fire to two military vehicles and a Ukrposhta branch on the order of the Russian special services.
Earlier, the Security Service detained an FSB agent who was operating in Chernihiv Oblast. The perpetrator adjusted rocket attacks on the regional center and prepared a series of arson attacks on Ukrzaliznytsia facilities.
On September 12, law enforcement officers detained the next five arsonists of cars of the armed forces. They worked in the capital in several districts on the order of the special services of the Russian Federation.
On the night of September 11 in Noyabrsk, Russia, two schoolchildren, 13 and 14 years old, burned multipurpose Mi-8 rotorcraft. They were promised 5 million rubles (2.24 million hryvnias) for this “task”.
In the Darnytsky district of Kyiv, two residents of the capital reported on suspicion of obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a special period (Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). They are accused of setting fire to a military vehicle.
We will also remind you that in the Donetsk region three were detained collaborators who set fire to the cars of the Defense Forces of Ukraine on the order of the Russian special services.
