The main topics were the mechanisms for achieving a long and just peace, as well as the return of Ukrainian children and the release of prisoners.

“During the meeting, they discussed joint work on real mechanisms that should lead to a fair and long peace for Ukraine. All parties clearly emphasized that the war should end with a stable and fair peace, and the complete and unconditional ceasefire is the basis for further decisions. They also discussed humanitarian issues, including the release of Ukrainian prisoners and the return of children, which is a priority for Ukraine, ”the message reads.
At the same time, Russia has once again demonstrated that it was not interested in peace, as evidenced by its absence at the negotiations at the appropriate level of representation, ignoring international initiatives and refusing to stop aggression, the President’s office noted.
We will remind, in Istanbul there were negotiations on the settlement of war in Ukraine. Before that, the Ukrainian team met with representatives of the United States and Turkey. The meeting took place before the negotiations of Ukraine with the Russian side.
Recall that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio flew to Istanbul a few hours before the negotiations began.
