The Embraer 190 plane that crashed in Kazakhstan could have been shot down by the Russians from an anti-aircraft missile complex, believes Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the NSDC.
Kovalenko noted that Russia should have closed the airspace over Grozny during the alleged UAV attack, but did not do so.
After the plane was damaged by the Russians, it was diverted to Kazakhstan instead of an emergency landing in Grozny.
If the Russians had landed the plane, they would have managed to save people’s lives, according to the head of the CPD.
The agency drew attention to the fact that the authorities of the aggressor country did not recognize the drone attack on Chechnya in the morning of December 25 and for several hours hid the fact that one of the drones was shot down over Vladikavkaz.
Azerbaijan Airlines suspended flights to Grozny and Makhachkala until the end of the investigation.
On December 25, an Azerbaijan Airlines Embraer 190 plane flying from Baku to Grozny crashed in Kazakhstan’s Aktau. The Grozny airport said that the plane could not land there due to fog. There were 62 passengers on board the plane (most of them are from Azerbaijan) and five crew members. Rosaviatsia explained the crash as a collision with birds.
According to the latest data, 38 people died and 28 were injured as a result of the disaster.
