The acting head of the OECD working group announced this during the conference “Ukraine is on the way to the OECD and joining the OECD Convention on Combating Bribery.”
“When Ukraine applied for accession, I understood that Ukraine was on the verge of survival. But I am very impressed with the progress I have seen in the last few years in the fight against corruption and bribery. It is very important to strengthen the fight against corruption in every state. But the state that is fighting for its survival, it is also important what efforts it makes to fight corruption,” said the representative of the OECD.
He said that work in Ukraine currently focuses on the causes of corruption. Because corruption is a threat to the country’s national security. But it is important that Ukraine gets peace.
“The fight against corruption is an important component of achieving peace. The accession of Ukraine to the OECD Convention is a very important step on this path. I would like to implement the experience I gained in Ukraine in Great Britain. Because there are a lot of really significant efforts that are admirable and we in the world would like to duplicate this experience that Ukraine has shown,” said the representative of the OECD.
