On the front, the advance of Russian troops was recorded in the Kursk region, Toretsk district and near Kurakhov. The Russians are transferring forces from the Kurakhiv direction to the Mirnograd area in the Pokrovsky direction.

According to the ISW report of January 9, in the Kursk region, the enemy has advanced to the western part of Mykolaivka and to Makhnivka, but the successes are minimal. The SSO of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the repulse of a mechanized assault by a Russian platoon. Russian sources claim the capture of a number of settlements, including Kosice and Pogrebki, but there is no visual confirmation of these claims.
In the Kharkiv region limited attacks in the area of Vovchansk and Tykhi on January 7-8 did not lead to success. In the Kupian direction, the enemy attacked Golubivka, Topoli and Petropavlivka, but did not advance. Fighting continues in the Borova area, the invaders have advanced about 12 km, but they cannot fully control the settlements.
In Luhansk region in the Kupian direction, attacks continue in the area of Zagryzovo, Makiivka, Kopanka, and other points, but progress is minimal. In the Lyman direction, Russian troops are trying to advance to Kolodyazyu, Ivanivka, and Zarichny, but have not achieved significant success.
In Donetsk region in the Toretska area, the enemy is slowly advancing in the northern and northwestern parts of the city. Near Kurakhov, Russian troops are trying to gain a foothold, attacking the settlements of Dachne, Sribne, Constantinople and others. Attacks are intense in the area of Temporal Yar, but there is no advance. In the Pokrovsky direction, the Russians intensified their offensive south of Mirnograd, using civilian vehicles to transport infantry.
Russian sources claim the capture of new territories, but there is no visual confirmation of these claims. The enemy’s offensive in key directions remains limited and local.
