In Ukraine, the number of mobile communication base stations with emergency power will be increased to ensure communication stability during power outages. Such a decision was made at the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
This was announced by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Rustem Umyerov, on Facebook, noting that the stability of mobile communication against the backdrop of Russian attacks on energy facilities was discussed at the Headquarters.
“The decision to increase the number of base stations… with emergency power supply and redistribution of reserve energy sources with a focus on front-line territories was supported,” Umyerov wrote.
In addition, the following issues were discussed at Stavka:
- Protecting and strengthening the air defense system (priorities and cooperation with partners).
- Development of Ukraine’s long-range capabilities: the results of combat use were discussed, and Umyerov emphasized that “the geography of long-range strikes on the territory of the aggressor will expand.”
- Execution of defense contracts for 2025 and plans for 2026-2028. Businesses were instructed to agree on weekly receipt schedules.
Previously, mobile operators were obliged to ensure at least 10 hours of network operation during outages until February 1, 2025. This is important for maintaining contact with emergency services and for obtaining important information during periods of instability.
