This is the second vessel built on a ship in Izmir (Turkey), and the third, financed by American partners. The new boat will be an important element for ensuring the stable work of ports and safety of navigation.
The chairman of the State Seaport Administration of Ukraine Alexander Semirga stressed that the launch of this boat is an next step in strengthening the fleet.
He noted that even in the difficult conditions of war, threats to the air and on the water, the AMPU does not stop key processes.
“We are updating the Navy now, because it is critical for the stable work of ports and the country’s economy”, – added the Semirga.
The boat was named “pilot Cheberyakov” in honor of Sergei Cheberyakov – an experienced sea pilot, who has devoted more than 18 years. He has prepared more than one generation of experts and was given to his business for the last.
In 2023, Sergei Cheberyakov tragically died, trying to escape from the occupied territory of Kherson region.
To name the ship with his name was to perpetuate the memory of the outstanding pilot for the AMPU.
