The Netherlands will hand over a large package of military assistance in the field of maritime security to Ukraine. It will include ships, boats and sea drones totaling EUR 400 million.
The Minister of Defense of the Netherlands Ruben Breccelmans has informed about it before the meeting of the contact group on defense of Ukraine in Ramstein in Brussels.
“For today, I announce a new support for 400 million euros in maritime security. It will include more than 100 ships, patrol boats, transport boats, interceptors, special operations. That is, a wide range of more than 100 vessels, ”Breccelmans said.
According to him, the package also includes more than 50 marine drones, as well as weapons, sensors, reserve parts and training of Ukrainian specialists.
“This is a complete package to strengthen Ukraine’s maritime security. This is very important because we see that Russian threats, both in the Black Sea and around Kherson and the Jerba River, are growing. It is very important for Ukraine to protect yourself from this, ”the Netherlands Minister said.
The Netherlands want to support Ukraine in the freedom of navigation and preservation of trade routes, Bracelmans said.
We will remind, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky predicts the launch of a new security mechanism with the participation of international partners, which should help the Ukrainian industry.
During the meeting of the Defense Group of Ukraine on April 11 announced providing Kiev military assistance of more than 21 billion euros ($ 23.85 billion).
Earlier, we wrote that Europeans will make sure that Ukraine has a strong army, because it will provide peace on the continent, so Russia should not hope for the cessation of support of Kiev.
Also we will remind that Germany has recently handed over 30 missiles for Patriot to Ukraine and prepares further air defense systems, armored vehicles, drones and other necessary equipment.
