The country’s main concert venue, the National Palace of Arts “Ukraine”, will turn into a large cinema hall for the first time in history.
This event will take place on February 22, 2026, on the occasion of the national premiere of the feature film “Mavka. A real myth,” the press service of the palace reports.
It is noted that the audience will be the first to see the long-awaited film on the biggest stage of Ukraine.
The film “Mavka. A real myth” is positioned as a romantic fantasy that tells the story of forbidden love. In the center of the plot is the mystical Mavka, who, contrary to her nature, falls in love with the biologist Lukyan. Instead of losing him in the mysterious Dark Lake, she protects him. However, the inhabitants of the lake – mavka and mermaids – are not ready to let go of their prey so easily, they are willing to do anything so that Mavka stays on the dark side, and Lukyan gets to them.
The tape “Mavka. The real myth” is produced by Iryna Kostyuk and Anna Eliseyeva, and the script was written by Yaroslav Wojcieszek – the team of the animated film “Mavka. Forest Song”, which collected more than $21 million at the global box office and became the highest-grossing Ukrainian film of all time.
The director of the tape is Katya Tsaryk, known for large-scale concert productions, music videos for top Ukrainian stars and participation in the serial anthology from Film.ua Group “First Days”. The cinematographer-director of the film is Yuriy Korol, who shot “Zakhar Berkut”, “The Train on December 31” and many other successful Ukrainian projects.
The images of the main character and mermaids were created by stylist, fashion editor, founder of the TTSWTRS brand, which has become a global fashion phenomenon, Anna Osmekhina.
