The Ministry of Veterans Affairs has developed a veteran policy strategy that will be comprehensive and will combine all the resources and capabilities of state bodies, local governments, businesses and public organizations to support veterans. Deputy Minister of Veteran Affairs Ruslan Prykhodko told about this on the ICTV channel.
Veteran policy in Ukraine: past vs present
Deputy Minister of Veteran Affairs Ruslan Prykhodko noted that the veteran policy in Ukraine actually began to emerge in 2014.
And when a full-scale war broke out in 2022, all the problems that existed since 2014 were magnified many times over. The state could no longer close them with point-and-click tactical steps, said Deputy Minister of Veterans’ Affairs Ruslan Prykhodko.
Veteran policy strategy: what it involves
The Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs has developed a state strategy for veterans’ policy, having previously analyzed all existing problems and consulted with lawyers and veterans’ associations.
Today, at first glance, veterans have many opportunities both at the state and local levels. But, unfortunately, they are often scattered and unsystematized, some of them do not work, some do not have funding. And it is the Veteran Policy Strategy that will allow to unite the efforts of the state and public sectors.
Ruslan Prykhodko emphasized that the Ministry of Veterans will become an institutional actor that will coordinate veteran policy at the level of various ministries, departments and local authorities.
