The Minister of Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin announced the beginning of the selection of candidates for the head of the State Space Agency of Ukraine.
He reported this in Telegram.
“We are starting to select candidates for the head of the State Space Agency of Ukraine. In order for the process to be fair and impartial, a working group was created by the relevant Order. It included representatives of the Ministry of Strategy and Industry, the Ministry of Economy, the VRU Committee on National Security and the NADS,” said Smetanin.
According to the minister, representatives of public organizations, in particular those engaged in anti-corruption activities, embassies and EU representations in Ukraine will also be involved.
In fact, Derzhkosmos has been working without a leader for more than three years. The last head of the agency was Volodymyr Taftay, who was dismissed on December 20, 2022. After him, the agency was managed by acting responsibilities.
In December, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed acting head of the State Space Agency Volodymyr Mikheev.
It will be recalled that Canada and Ukraine agreed to build a commercial spaceport for the Zyklon-4M launch vehicle on the Atlantic coast of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. The missile was developed and manufactured by Ukrainian state-owned enterprises – KB “Pivdenny” and VO “Pivdenny Machine-Building Plant”.
The Cabinet of Ministers supported the project of the State Space Program of Ukraine for 2021-2025 and submitted it to the Verkhovna Rada for consideration. The document, in particular, envisages the creation of rocket and space technology, scientific research in the field of space activity and the creation of space systems for observing the Earth.
