Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga called on partners to impose sanctions on Russia for conscious delay in peace talks.

About it reported Minister on the social network H.

The Foreign Minister summed up the official findings of Ukraine as a result of the second meeting in Istanbul. He noted that the Russian delegation did not respond to the document of the Ukrainian side, which outlined the vision of Ukraine to end the war.

“We sent it (document – ed.) In advance to the meeting. During the meeting, our delegation asked the Russians, what their reasoning. They did not provide any answer. Neither during the meeting nor after it, ”the minister said.

Sibiga stressed that official Kiev demands a response from Russia and added that “every day of silence on their part, proves their desire to continue the war.”

“Instead of responding to our design offers in Istanbul, the Russian side has put forward a set of old ultimatums that do not bring true peace. This is contrary to the previous promises of Russia, which were data, in particular, that this week in Istanbul it will offer something realistic and feasible, ”said the head of Ukrainian diplomacy.

He also added that due to the lack of a constructive approach from Russia, the Istanbul format turned into a meeting on the exchange of prisoners of war.

Sibiga congratulated progress in this area, but noted that “if the Russians reciprocated to its constructiveness, it could be achieved by much more noticeable results in all areas.”

The rejection of any substantive ceasefire formats by Russia, the Foreign Minister called a sufficient reason for partners now to impose new sanctions against Russia.

“We have to put an end to the killings. And if the current meetings do not produce such a result and do not contribute to peace, it becomes increasingly obvious that a meeting of leaders is needed, ”Sibiga stressed.

According to the results of the second round of negotiations on the termination of the war, which took place in Istanbul on June 2, the delegations of Ukraine and Russia agreed to exchange certain categories of captives according to the formulas “all on all” and to exchange the bodies of dead at the front by a formula 6000 by 6000.

There was no more significant progress at the meeting. In order to cease fire, Russia further requires its protectorate over four regions and Crimea, and puts forward a number of other ultimate requirements that are the loss of part of Ukraine’s sovereignty.

In addition, the negotiations first discussed the need to meet the Presidents of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and Russia Vladimir Putin to achieve a practical result in peaceful progress.

We will remind, Ukraine received and during the week will study the delegation of the Russian Federation in Istanbul “Mirny Memorandum” on the settlement of war. The Russians will do the same.

We also reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin deliberately delayed peace talks to prepare for the next military offensive on Ukraine.
