The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the statements of the head of the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, in which he questioned Ukraine’s membership in NATO and the EU, as manipulative.
The ministry emphasized that such statements indicate that the Polish politician is putting “conjunctural considerations above the strategic interests” of their country.
“There is a constructive dialogue between the Ukrainian and Polish sides of the authorized authorities on issues of the historical past. Once again, we urge Polish politicians not to use the topic of difficult pages of the historical past in the internal political struggle,” the message reads.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also drew attention to the fact that Navrotskyi’s statements caused “positive” reaction in the Kremlin. The agency reminded that Russia has been trying to destroy the Ukrainian and Polish states for many years.

On Thursday, January 9, the opposition candidate for the presidency of Poland Karol Nawrocki said that he does not see Ukraine in the EU and NATO. Prime Minister Donald Tusk condemned his statement.
On December 30, Poland’s Chargé d’affaires in Ukraine, Piotr Lukasiewicz, stated that Poland fully supports Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations and will try to speed up Ukraine’s accession to the EU as much as possible during its presidency of the European Union.
The diplomat also noted that the presidency of Poland in the European Union will not be able to somehow influence the strategy of the USA, where the president will change in January.
