The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine plans to involve artificial intelligence in the examination of school textbooks. Independent experts will also be controlled by the process, and AI will become an assistant in their work.

Earlier, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Nadezhda Kuzmichova during a meeting of the Committee on Education, Science and Innovation reported that since 2026 the Ministry of Education and Science will update the mechanisms of training for students.
The need for updates is due to several factors, and because of a very short time, the authors and experts do not have enough time to work thoroughly.
For the development of expertise, testing, competitive selection and printing, one year is settled, and in the conditions of a full -scale invasion of textbooks is complicated due to damage to the equipment of printing enterprises, unstable power supply and lack of specialists.
“As a consequence, some of the textbooks get into schools late. This situation leads to a decrease in their quality and serious mistakes in the content and decorated educational materials.
Therefore, updating the regulatory framework and the relevance of the required terms for each stage of textbook formation, taking into account all the challenges, is an important element in the process of improving the quality of textbooks “, – noted in the Ministry of Education and Science.
In addition, since last year, textbooks that print for public funds must contain an interactive electronic application. Stakeholders’ feedback shows that the requirements for these applications, especially for children with special educational needs, require review and amendment.
Currently, the Ministry of Education and Science is considering using AI as an auxiliary tool in experts.
Examination of educational literature is carried out to determine the quality of its content content with further use in institutions where full general secondary education, pre-school, extracurricular, vocational (vocational) education, etc.
Expertise is carried out by independent experts, and prepare detailed and substantiated conclusions with the assessment of the quality of the textbook. The conclusions are considered at the meeting of the subject (sectoral) expert commission, they are the basis for making the appropriate decision on the textbook.
The Ministry of Education and Science explained that AI can evaluate a textbook on the same criteria as experts, as well as to generate their conclusions and recommendations.
“Experts can use the results of the work of the AI, take into account/do not consider them to prepare their own conclusions.
It is the experts that will be considered at a meeting of the subject (sectoral) expert commission and will serve as a ground for making a decision on the textbook. That is, the final expert opinion will be provided by experts, ”the Ministry of Education and Science noted.
Earlier, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine reported that by May 2025, elementary school students will be eaten free of charge in schools. Ukraine is not enough money to provide free food for grades 1-11.
Recently, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has made a decision on the distribution of subsidies to local budgets in the amount of ₴ 460.5 million for the arrangement of shelters in schools and military lyceums.
In Kiev, school leaders were entitled to make the decision on the introduction of quarantine in case of exceeding epidemiological indicators of influenza and SARS among students. It will be possible to choose between transfer to distance learning or suspension of lessons in individual classes.
