The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has prepared changes to the regulations that determine the suitability of citizens for military service. It is about excluding certain diseases from the relevant list.
Military ombudsman Olga Reshetylova told about this in an interview with Glavkom.
According to her, the current requirements for the health of conscripts are significantly reduced due to the lack of personnel. As a result, many people who are formally recognized as fit are in practice unable to fully perform combat tasks.
Reshetylova noted that military medical commissions often conduct only superficial examinations, and in the absence of obvious symptoms of diseases, a person receives the status of fit. At the same time, physical exertion and constant stress in the army often worsen the state of health.
Separately, the ombudsman drew attention to the problem of combining several diseases. Even if diagnoses such as diabetes, sciatica, or high blood pressure alone are not grounds for dismissal, together they can make a person virtually unfit. Therefore, in her opinion, the assessment of the state of health should be carried out comprehensively, and not for each disease separately.
“I know that changes to Order No. 402 have already been prepared, but I cannot say at what stage they are now. The Health Department of the Ministry of Defense worked to exclude certain diseases from the list,” Reshetylova added.
Also, the military ombudsman Olha Reshetylova outlined the main reasons for the voluntary abandonment of units in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The staffing of territorial picking centers in Ukraine is less than 40%, and their employees often work without days off for several months.
