This decision for the first time in Ukraine has created a legal precedent for LGBTK+ community.
The case was considered after the appeal of the Christian organization “All Together”, which tried to cancel the primary decision of the Desniansky District Court.
During the consideration, the activists held a peaceful action near the court building with posters “My family exists, but the state does not recognize it” and “Family over stereotypes”.
The couple lives together since 2013, held a civilian ceremony in Ukraine in 2017 and officially married in the United States in 2021.
The case was due to the refusal of the Foreign Ministry to allow family reunification when Kis as a diplomat tried to take a partner on a long -term business trip.
