The movement of trains on all lines of the Kharkiv metro has been fully restored after a thirty-minute pause caused by a massive Russian attack on the city’s energy infrastructure.
The press service of the utility company confirmed the return of trains to the routes at 11:45 on December 24, urging passengers to monitor possible changes in the intervals of traffic.
The stoppage of electric transport was the result of four hits on objects in the suburbs of Kharkiv, which were reported by the mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, which led to sharp voltage drops in the city-wide network.
Due to equipment damage, Kharkiv Oblenergo was forced to implement emergency shutdown schedules throughout the region to stabilize the system and prevent large-scale accidents. In addition to emergency measures, the previously published schedules of hourly electricity restrictions continue to apply in Kharkiv. Power engineers are working in an intensified mode to eliminate the consequences of Russia’s strikes, at the same time, residents are asked to limit the use of energy-intensive devices during peak hours.
Despite the resumption of transport, the metro continues to function as a safe haven for thousands of citizens during air raids. Communal services are coordinating efforts with energy companies to ensure stable power supply to the transport network in the face of the constant risk of repeated attacks from Russia. Currently, the situation with passenger transportation in the city is stabilized, but the authorities urge citizens to plan trips in advance, taking into account possible power outages.
On the morning of December 24, train traffic on all lines of the Kharkiv metro was temporarily suspended for technical reasons after a series of explosions in the city and suburbs.
Before that, the Russian occupiers attacked Kharkiv again: an enemy drone hit the roof of an administrative building in the center of the city.
The enemy attacked the Dnipro: there were wounded, there were fires.
