As the fighters said, other advantages of the installation are mobility, which allows you to change positions and the fact that it can be put into a combat position in five or ten minutes. The military added that Bohdan self-propelled guns can compete with Western weapons.

If the enemy starts to practice, then you can quickly run out and take cover somewhere… We drove in, practiced, quickly formed up and left the firing position,” said a soldier with the call sign Kolibri about the use of self-propelled guns.

The fighters added that the maneuverability, range of fire and the latest guidance system simplify the work of the crew and make it difficult for the enemy to find such guns.

Russian occupiers are hunting self-propelled guns, as their positions in southern Ukraine are threatened only by anti-aircraft missiles, the video says.

A few days ago, the BMP was stopped [бойову машину піхоти] from the first shot. A few minutes after that, the CAB arrived next to us,” adds Colibri.

On October 30, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine produces almost 20 Bohdan self-propelled artillery units every month.

In December 2023, Zelensky announced that Ukraine reached the rate of six Bohdan self-propelled guns per month for the first time. On April 2, The New York Times newspaper wrote that Ukraine’s defense industry already produces eight such machines.

Before the full-scale war, Ukraine had only one Bohdana in service.

Zelenskyy stated that in April, Ukrainian industry will produce ten Bohdan self-propelled guns for the first time.

Bohdana is a Ukrainian 155-mm self-propelled artillery installation on a wheeled chassis, which became the first Ukrainian self-propelled guns designed for the standard 155 mm caliber for NATO countries. Until 2022, the Ukrainian army was armed with Soviet 152 mm caliber weapons.
