The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Agency Marianne Grossi will visit Kyiv and Russia next week.
About it reports the IAEA site.
As it is noted, trips occur within regular contacts, the purpose of which is to ensure nuclear security during the war.
Against the backdrop of the alarming situation at the occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP, which currently has only one line of external power supply, Grosse continues diplomatic efforts to prevent nuclear threat.
The IAEA experts who are at the ZPP reported about the sounds of military activity near the station during the last week. In addition, the signs of hostilities were recorded near Khmelnytsky, Rivne and South Ukrainian NPPs.
In particular, on May 23, at the South Ukrainian NPP, the agency’s experts witnessed the Drona firing, and also recorded ten drones at a distance of 2.5 km from the facility. On the same day, two drones were noticed 5 km from the zone on the Chernobyl site. Experts at the Khmelnytsky NPP were forced to look for shelters because of the threat of attack.
The situation around Ukrainian nuclear objects remains tense, and a new round of IDA negotiations is aimed at reducing risks and preventing nuclear incidents.
We will remind, the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant informed the IAEA team of the roof of the training center, located immediately outside the perimeter of the station.
We have already reported that Russian invaders continue to violate international law by illegally holding 13 employees of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant in captivity.
